    This is by far the best cymbal demonstration video I've seen. Showing the cymbal in the studio, live, and in comparison to a similar model is just the icing on the cake. This should be the standard for showing off cymbals. It's very hard to tell what a cymbal sounds like in a vacuum!

    The light strips in the drums are awesome, what are they/how are they rigged up?

      The company was called Drumlite, they were later purchased and integrated by pearl, but then later on Pearl, even phase the whole idea out. At one point, they did make all kinds of light kits that were very easy to install on regular drums and acrylic but it seems like the fad has passed, and it’s a little harder to find these options now.

    Really like the cym stands. The hi-hat stand legs don't rotate to accommodate a dbl bass pedal tho. That's a big disappointment.

    Man I love your 20” crash it so damn trashy❤ The Dry Dark Ion series is heavier and will give you the volume you need. This by far is My favorite series from Istanbul Agop and my Go to set for everything and I got a few sets of expensive cymbals ( OM’s & 30th anniversaries) but the dry dark are my favorites. Glad I got them as soon as they came out now they are $100 more for every cymbals I own. My set up includes 13’ and 17’ hi hats, 17” & 19” Dry dark Ion Crashes, 22” ride , 22”crash and 17” crash, and 10” Dry Dark ion Splash very versatile

    When you say, "new", are you referring to the "new round badge" series vs. the older "stop sign badge" series? Or has the "new round badge" series had a renovation? I have a "new round badge" Catalina Club Jazz kit that I bought well over 10 years ago that is amazing! It was already great and I just changed a few things to make them even better. Love "That Great Gretsch Sound"!

    I bought the version with the 20" bass drum in the yellow satin flame wrap almost 4 years ago and it is a nice sounding kit. I had a Gretsch kit from 1979 with the same sizes and honestly think the Catalina is easier to tune. I have my eye on the new Rogers champagne sparkle kit that is beautiful but since I just play at home I am not sure it is worth the extra money. Inexpensive kits are so good today and although the more expensive kits are better I am not sure they sound 3 or 4 times better.

    Who makes that case? Exactly what I've been looking for. I would like one with a removable lid for my IEM setup. Thanks for sharing this!

    • @BeardedDrums
      @BeardedDrums 5 місяців тому

      That might be hard to find, I don’t really know if they even make it anymore. That is an old Ibanez three pedal guitar case. Like you said it is perfect in the top comes off, but I’m not sure if that’s around anymore. You might just try looking for a hard shell guitar pedal case with a removable lid and you might be able to find something similar.

    My problem is much worse than this. You know how most of us have some external means of, not necessarily keeping time, but more like our own bodies sort of unconscious timekeeping or filling empty space to keep time? I know Dave Grohl clicks his teeth together, and normal musicians who aren't playing drums will tap their feet - well I, for whatever nonsense reason, picked up a habit of keeping time like that by forced inhaling and exhaling. You can't see or hear me doing it, but I do it with all the instruments I play. Before every '1' I do a sharp inhale and then exhale on downbeats. This might not be so bad if it was consistent, but it isn't at all - it's all over the place, depending on where I put accents. Of course this isn't going to be a problem for simple, laid-back grooves or repetitive beats, but if I'm getting into it or it's an intense or involved pattern, I find myself getting exhausted out of nowhere. What REALLY sucks is it doesn't matter how in shape I'm in because steady breathing is crucial no matter what. I haven't figured out how to beat it because it's such a subconscious thing.

    Hi Stephan, I can relate to making a switch in brands of drumsticks, I´ve been through a couple of bands in my search the perfect pair - Zildjian 3A model was my go to pair for a long time, I then found Vater´s 3A Fatback stick a little beefier then zildjian 3a with a bite more weight, but Just a month ago (september ´23) I tried Vater´s 1A and YES this model was amazing on many points, weight, feel, lenght and versatile - maybe you tried it - but if not I would highly recommend you´d do - all the best Janus

    I like the idea of putting the long bags sideways but how do you fit through the door? I just inherited one of these little carts but I just need to buy new front casters. I have an original R10 that I've been using for years and I love it. I'll use the little cart for my jazz sized kit.

    It's unfortunate that you have to give a disclaimer at the beginning because people act the way they do. Thanks for the review! I really like them and the case is awesome. I have a set for home and a set for gigging. They live in my stick bags. I will say they do remove almost too much ring on the snare, so I may cut one in half to try. Never used them on toms since I go for the big open sound.

    Great review! I went back to using ProMark sticks and was previously using the Shira Kashi Oak 747B's. Over time, the Oak was too much as far as the vibrations to my hands and arms, so I went back to hickory and tried the Firegrains. They are awesome and now my go-to sticks! Thanks for the awesome review!
